HE/SHE #7, 2013 - HE SAW- SHE SAW
LM (upper) Serendipity ruled when, one afternoon this week, we were lucky to witness a natural wonder. As flocks of Red-wing Blackbirds passed by in huge numbers over the course of a few hours, the air was filled with their raucous calls and beating wings. The photographic challenge was to suggest the sheer number of birds as well as to put them in the context of a specific time and place.

KP (lower) With no more than brief breaks, a steady stream of many thousands of blackbirds flew over and around us heading south along Long Point. Presumably they ran into the stormy cold front that was predicted for the next day and decided to turn tail and head back the way they came.
