LM(upper) A sudden return to frigid temperatures resulted in a snap freeze of Lake Erie at Port Ryerse. Thin plates of new ice gathered onto the shore edge in clusters like frosted broken glass.
KP(lower) On this still, frigid day at Port Ryerse, the surface of Lake Erie was frozen into a smooth, rather thin layer of ice due to the abrupt drop in temperature; but, where Young's Creek entered the lake, there was just enough water movement to prevent freezing. The result was a mysterious and meandering narrow path of open water stretching out towards the horizon.
