LM (upper photograph) In late December, the sun sets directly into Lake Erie as viewed from Long Point beach. This year, an extended cold spell and strong winds forced ice into ridges along the shoreline earlier than usual. The warm light in the sky juxtaposed with the bleak icy landscape is magical.
KP (lower photograph) With the sun obscured behind cloud the landscape wore muted blues and greys. The faintest hint of pink gave promise of the show to come.
