HE/SHE #21, 2014 - HE SAW- SHE SAW
LM(upper) I saw an overly familiar area with new eyes the other evening as the setting sun, softened by thin clouds, painted the boathouses in Port Rowan harbour with warm, directional light. With minimal wind to disturb the surface of the water, the reflections became visually rich and complex abstract shapes. The challenge was to ground the abstract elements with just enough reality to guide the viewer through the picture space.

KP (lower) This photograph, though rendered literally, became purely abstract when I chose not to include any portion of the boathouses that are the source of the reflections.
