HE/SHE #3, 2013 - HE SAW- SHE SAW

LM (left photograph) - When the Christmas Tree was put away this week, I noticed a broken ornament in one of the boxes. Embracing the maxim that the flip side of destruction is creativity, I decided to interpret the mess visually with camera in hand. Voila--everyday abstraction.

KP (right photograph) - Our assignment for this month’s meeting of our photo study group was “Everyday Abstracts”. Cookbooks are perpetually stacked on our kitchen counter so “everyday” certainly pertains. Late one evening I noticed how the overhead lights highlighted the page edges and created rich shadows between the leaves of the book. I took the photograph further into the abstract by flipping a duplicate of the image and merging the two in Photoshop.
