TRANSITION - ACADIA NP, MAINE

We took a week long photo workshop in Maine this past fall led by George DeWolfe, called the Contemplative Landscape. One day as I was shooting on the shore of a lake, I calmed myself and, for some reason, glanced overhead. In a mindful state, I noticed the remnant maple leaves on the almost bare branches of the tree above. The bright overcast sky was a perfect backdrop for the colourful leaves as they fluttered and fell in the wind. George's talk about negative space and the elongated oriental format of Asian art guided me in the post production presentation of this image.
