SANDHILL CRANES - BIG CREEK MARSH

photograph by larry monczka
I stumbled upon this scene while photographing along the causeway during a March snowstorm. My window of opportunity was short, but the driving wet snow acted as a sort of blind, allowing me to move into position and squeeze off a few frames before the cranes took off. I decided on a high key treatment in post, to minimize distractions and create an oriental mood.
