H/S WEEK #9

KP (upper photograph) We decided to check out the lake front in Port Ryerse as our last stop on a late afternoon shoot. The scene before us was intensely blue as we shot until it was no longer possible to shoot. I find photographing transient conditions, as this one is, poised between freeze and thaw, to be compelling subject matter.
LM (lower photograph) This was a scenario where what the camera saw was quite different from what my eye perceived. I was attracted to the patterns and textures of the snow and ice but the colour looked subdued. When I set up and peered into the viewfinder, the intensity of the blues took me by surprise. Lesson--learn to see as the camera sees.
