H/S WEEK #13

LM (upper) As winter draws to a close, the daily temperature range narrows and the cycle of freeze and thaw results in delicate, intricate ice patterns. Setting up the tripod to photograph these paper thin miniature abstract landscapes often destroys them. One set-up and they're gone. The ephemeral nature of the ice demands thoughtful visualization before moving in with the equipment.
KP (lower) At this point in the season the ice ridges are beginning to look more than a little shop-worn. Using pan-blur I created an abstract impression of the fatigued landscape, retaining the lovely palette of late afternoon while camouflaging the blemishes,
