HE/SHE WEEK 29

KP (left photograph) Today the wind was coming in strong from the south west, pushing Lake Erie's water higher onto the beach than we've seen in the recent past. The waves were washing past the old pilings on Hastings Drive, rearranging the colourful oxides in the sand on each in-and-out, while the wet pilings created a strong graphic contrast to the turbid water.
LM (right photograph) My approach to this scenario was to concentrate on the ephemeral elements. That is, the fleeting sand swirls, the energy of the wave front, and the reflection of the wooden posts. At any given moment, each of these visual building blocks shape-shifted into a different configuration. In the field, recognizing, anticipating and capturing decisive moments like this is exhilarating.
