HE/SHE, 2015 #22

KP(left) I seldom do extensive "treatments" on my photographs, but, as is obvious, I did play with this one. Due to an extremely dry summer and a warm fall this season's display of colour has not been outstanding. When I started to process this shot I found that, though it had "good bones" I wasn't inspired by the straight image. I started exploring in Nik software and was pleasantly surprised to find this effect. I realized, after some thought, that the reason it held such appeal for me is that it reminded me of the work of one of my favourite Canadian artists, David Milne.
LM(right) Wandering some secondary roads in early October, we came across a combination of visual elements that shouted "Autumn in Norfolk County". The compositional goal was to lead the eye into and through the picture space. Post process tamped down the colours for a vintage look.
